Public Relations and Communications
Communication activities accompanying the work of RWTDF
One of our most important tasks with regard to the operation of RWTDF is the presentation of the large-scale modernisation and safety enhancement work and the illustration of the conditions of smooth operation.
The comprehensive modernisation work carried out on RWTDF’s site is also presented in a regional monthly, titled Hétközlap. In articles issued on monthly basis, we provide an overall view on the major operations carried out on the site and we answer all questions formulated by the members of the population.
The Visitor Centre of the Isotope Information Association has been opened in 2003 in Kisnémedi, in the renewed beautiful Gosztonyi manor house. All those interested are informed of the peaceful use of radioactivity, about the presence of radioactivity in the nature, about the place of production of radioactive materials used for a purpose other than nuclear power generation and on the disposal of the radioactive wastes.
The exhibits are of a god presentation of the past and present of RWTDF from the date of opening to the recently performed safety enhancement and modernisation work. Two interactive panels are provided to keep visitors informed of the radioactive waste producers in Hungary and of the wide range environment monitoring activities undertaken on the site and in its immediate environment.
The Isotope Information Association (IIT) has been established by three local governments in 1998. The founding members are: Kisnémedi, Püspökszilágy, and Váckisújfalu. In 2000 Váchartyán, in 2002 Galgamácsa, Vácegres, and Őrbottyán have joined the association.
In 2008, the public information work was taken over by the reorganised Association. At the same time, the abbreviation of the Association’s name has changed from IIT to ITT.
