In addition to Budaörs Headquarters and Paks Office, three facilities used for the short term and long-term storage of radioactive wastes and nuclear fuels are operated by PURAM. We have one more facility in Kővágószőlős.
These are as follows:
- Radioactive Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility (RWTDF) at Püspökszilágy for the disposal of radioactive wastes of institution origin,
- National Radioactive Waste Repository (NRWR) at Bátaapáti for the final disposal of low- and intermediate-level wastes of nuclear power plant origin,
- Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility at Paks for the safe interim storage of the used (spent) fuel assemblies of the nuclear power plant, for a period of minimum 50 years, which is required for technical reasons before disposal.
- The centre of the activity of Mecsek Environmental and Research Station (MERS) is the full remediation of the damage caused to the environment by the uranium ore mining industry and after this the re-utilisation of the affected area.
