After six succesful conferences, the 7th International Conference on Clays in Natural and Engineered Barriers for Radioactive Waste Confinement will take place from 24 – 27 September 2017 in Davos (Switzerland). Clay is well-known for a lot of companies, which deal with radioactive waste management. This is true for PURAM also, because clay stone is the basis of our investigation area for HLW and spent fuel. The Hungarian research program started in the nineties, therefore, this conference is an important opportunity to share research experience.

The purpose of the 7th International Conference is to gather specialists in the different disciplines related to clays and clay minerals, as well as scientists from organisations engaged in radioactive waste disposal, in order to evaluate the progress of research being conducted in this field.
The conference is organised by Nagra (Switzerland), in cooperation with ANDRA (France), COVRA (The Netherlands), KORAD (South Korea), NUMO (Japan), NWMO (Canada), ONDRAF/NIRAS (Belgium), PURAM (Hungary), RWM (Great Britain), SKB (Sweden), SURAO (Czech Republic) and (Switzerland).
